La Cholla Airpark
Tucson Homes with Hangars, not Garages

La Cholla Airpark, Oro Valley

Home Owners in La Cholla Airpark have hangars
and a flight strip in a private neighborhood

La Cholla Airpark features a 4500 foot air strip smack-dab in the middle of this upscale Tucson neighborhood. This is a PRIVATE AIRPARK, located northeast of Tucson near the Tortolita Mountains in Oro Valley Arizona. All lots are on a minimum of seven acres, which can’t be subdivided. Hangars, guest houses and horses are all permitted. La Cholla Airpark

The streets are runways leading to the homes. The garages are hangars, some housing three planes. In addition to Lexuses and Explorers, you see Cessnas, Beechcrafts, and Piper Cubs on the streets.

Airplanes take priority over cars at La Cholla; signs warn drivers that they must pull over if faced with a taxiing aircraft. Street names are aviation oriented: for example - Tailwind Drive, Cessna Way, and Corsair Drive to name a few.

There is also a 85 plane community hangar beside the airstrip for those needing more space. La Cholla Airpark was founded in 1972, just west of Oro Valley. In fact, before there was an Oro Valley. There are 90 Tucson homes here, many owned by former airline and military pilots. The flying weather in Tucson is superb, so residents get as much flying as they want.
