Airplanes take priority over cars at La Cholla; signs warn drivers that they must pull over if faced with a taxiing aircraft. Street names are aviation oriented: for example - Tailwind Drive, Cessna Way, and Corsair Drive to name a few. More |
Honeybee Ridge includes the right to purchase a membership for $37,000 in the Stone Canyon Club. Honeybee is a fully gated community of homes placed within an environmental "envelope" and currently priced from $1,000,000 to $4,000,000 with new homes being added frequently. More |
My husband and I learned to ride our road bikes on the generous bike paths of Rancho Vistoso Boulevard. We have friends who live here - more retiree friends of my husband's from Minneapolis - and they rave about Sun City Vistoso, with all the recreation centers, clubs, and facilities to help retirees enjoy Arizona's warm, friendly climate. | Reddington Ranch Estates - Gated, Rural, and Luxury! |
This is one of my favorite "get away from it all" Tucson neighborhoods. Out near the end of Tanque Verde Road, Redington Ranch is behind one of the tightest security gate systems in the valley. Home owners belong to a neighborhood association that maintains their private lake, stable, tennis courts, and recreation area. A wonderful place for family picnics and nature outings. One afternoon in walking around the lake, I climbed a grassy knoll behind the waterfall to find a sleeping bobcat, who was VERY startled. Needless to say, he startled me as well. Many of the Tucson homes here overlook the valley - across to Kitt Peak, and south all the way to Mexico. Lot sizes are very generous. And Paul McCartney used to live just across the road, although he sold the property after his first wife, Linda, passed away there. |

Tucson homes here are relatively new, ultra luxe, priced between $750,000 to $17,500,000. Awesome city lights views, and you're living right amongst nature here, up against the mountain. Altitude is 4000 feet at the Gatehouse. Cobblestone is also in Catalina foothills School District 16. More |
Colonia Solana is a neighborhood of 112 mature Tucson homes valued from $500,000 to $1 million, many of which have been re-vitalized in recent years. Tucson's elite have lived here for decades. Trees and vegetation throughout the area are thick and verdant. In the rainy season, Arroyo Chico flows from the golf courses west through the neighborhood. More |
The planners of El Encanto designed their plat like a wheel. A center hub nature park lined with Royal Palm Trees. A charming Tucson neighborhood of 143 homes priced from $600,000 to $1 million+. More |
Finisterra means "the end of the land" and it is - you can not build higher up the slopes than this. Magnificent views of theTucson city lights, and with the National Forest as your backyard, what's not to like? So high it snows in the winter, and is cooler in the summer. Elevation at the Gatehouse is 3800 feet, with all the homes higher than that. More |
| La Paloma Estates - Tucson Golf, Entry Guards, and Mountains Right There! |
La Paloma Estates has 127 magnificent Tucson homes, all built since the early 1980's on acreage that once belonged to one of finest developers. The centerpieces of the foothills neighborhood is the very challenging Jack Nicolas 27-hole golf course, a private country club, and a fabulous, world-class, 5-star resort hotel operated by the Westin chain. | Sam Hughes Neighborhood - Tucson's Calm, With-It Center by the University |
A charming neighborhood of mature Tucson homes, Sam Hughes is in a continual state of revitalization as new owners re-habilitate the historic buildings. The streets are closed to through traffic, a policy instituted by one of our previous mayors when his mother lived there. The streets are tree-lined and you get a sense of calm in Sam Hughes. There is steady bicycle traffic because of the proximity to the university. More |
Most of the homes are newer than some of its foothill's neighbors. This is a pretty hilly subdivision, with many superb Tucson homes in the $400,000+ to the $3,000,000 class. This Tucson neighborhood will have magnificent views, more often of Tucson than the mountains, but there are some that have both. Alta Vista is in Catalina foothills School District 16, considered by some folks to be one of the best around. You can not go wrong here if the price fits you. More |
The 470 Tucson homes here are almost all mature, having been built between 1960 and 1985. However, many of these have been remodeled and updated by new owners. Almost all the home-sites are close to an acre in size, some larger, so there can be a lot of elbow room between you and your neighbor. More |
Skyline Country Club Estates - My Country Club. Deluxe! |
Enter the GATED Tucson community from Swan Road, just north of Skyline Drive. A beautiful golf course neighborhood. Skyline Country Club is an area of 280 luxury Tucson homes on large sites around a magnificent par 71 private golf course, and spreading along one of the loveliest ridges in the Santa Catalina Mountains. Home prices vary as the subdivision was started in the early 1960's and lot prices were an unheard-of, outrageous, $12,000 per lot. Today, if one were available, think $400,000 + for that same site. Some of the homes are vintage, but more and more Skyline Country Club homes are being renovated either by investors or by new owners. Many people live here just part of the year. For an older, dated home, we might find you one in the $500,000 range, but if you want newer, already rehab'd, lookin' good, then we're talking $800,000 plus. These are special homes in a special Tucson neighborhood. Also in Catalina foothills School District 16, there are some younger families in the Skyline Country Club area. |
Ventana Canyon Estates - Tucson Golf, Schools, Upscale Neighborhood |
This is one of Tucson's newer sub-divisions, started in the 1980's. There are some smaller townhomes in the neighborhood priced in the $300,000+ range and up. Single family Tucson homes run up to several million. But there is a lot of range and variety. Most homes are newish, current. Ventana Canyon is has quiet, curving, tree-lined streets and wonderful views . One of Tucson's 5-star travel destinations, Ventana Canyon Resort, is at the top of the ridge right against the Santa Catalina mountains. The hotel is operated by the very swank Loew's chain. There are 27 holes of golf at Ventana, so members can play a private 18, while the public plays a semi-private, semi-public 18. I'm glad I'm not the head pro there; it does work out somehow, and the course is very highly rated.. Hole #3 - the "Hole-In-The-Wall" par 3 is world-renowned. Like much of the Tucson foothills, schools here are in well-respected Catalina foothills School District 16. |

Considered
a University neighborhood even though it is 2 1/2 miles from the campus
- many UA deans, administrators, and professors live here. El Encanto
is bound by 5th Street and Broadway, Country Club Road and Jones Avenue.
El Encanto was developed in the late 1920’s, an elegant Spanish
style Tucson community.
